Hello everyone once again! Finally we have arrived at the end of the road, and let me tell you, it`s been a huge honor to host this contest that managed to attract SO many talented and wonderful artists! I`m so grateful to everyone who joined in and showed interest, thank you all so much for that I really appreciate it!

Alrighty, it`s finally time to announce the winners And let me tell you, I have never had such a hard time choosing something before in MY LIFE But, it had to be done! So, after literally 5 hours of thinking and making PowerPoint`s filled with all of them and removing one by one to make it easier for me, I have finally reached a conclusion  





The first place, and the winner of 50$ is THIS incredible entry from the lovely ! Congratulations!
 
The reason behind making this the winner, is because this piece really captures the relationship between these two, and their own personalities As an extra bonus, the drawing style is amazing! It`s realistic, but I can still see their personalities shining through, which I love This is a solid effort! Thanks a ton for joining in Moni, and I hope you enjoy the price  





The second place, and the winner of 20$ is THIS amazing piece made by the epic Congratulations!

Why? Because this drawing manages to capture his personality JUST right! Everything form his pose, to his expression to his anatomy is just perfect! And as an added bonus, he`s even in the middle of telling an epic story to someone, which is exactly what he would most likely spend his time doing I also ADORE this style of drawing! It is SO appealing, which was a very important factor for me when I chose the winners Thank you so very much for joining in, Jackdaw! I hope the second place was a good surprise for you





And the third place, and the winner of 10$ is THIS wonderful artwork created by the awesome Congratulations!

And the reason for this? Said shortly it`s simply SO friggin appealing and beautiful that I completely fell in love with it from the moment I saw it The colors are so vibrant and pretty! His pose and expression is amazing, and yet again it`s in a drawing style that I absolutely adore! Like I said in the original journal entry; appeal, personality and drawing style is important to me! And this one checks of every box Enjoy the price, Wokup! Hope they will put a smile on your face  





But wait! We`re not done yet! I have decided to include a forth place! I`m doing this as a thank you to all the people who joined in, and because I simply could not leave these two out of the winning list So, the forth place, and the winners of 5$ dollars each are THESE AWESOME entries by and Congratulations to both of you!

The reason? Both of these pieces have SO much effort behind them and hard work that I could simply not leave them unappreciated The first one is so amazingly realistic and atmospheric I could faint And the second one is an epic scene filled with danger and tension between Venus and Darius! They don`t appeal to me as much as the others, and the personality of the characters doesn`t really shine through here because of the realistic drawing style. Both of them are INCREDIBLY impressive of course But I simply prefer a more personality filled, cartoony drawing style, it appeals more to me But despite my preferences, these were WAY to impressive to leave out Thank you both SO much for taking the time to make these STUNNING pieces! I am way beyond grateful!

Now, how do I win this contest, you may ask Let`s move on to the challenge!
For the last year and a half I`ve been working HARD on my creative universe, and have finally fleshed out the characters to a point where I`m very proud of them

Therefore, to celebrate, the challenge will be to illustrate one, or more, of the following characters:

Here is a little info about the characters to help you with ideas, and as guidelines if you plan to draw more than one character together

-Shade and Sprinter are twin brothers. They are both 25 years old, but Shade is an hour older than Sprinter. Sprinter (blue eyes, feather) is the leader of the clan they live with, Shade (golden eyes, earrings) works as a hunter and a soldier, and he never wanted to lead the clan. Shade is a very charismatic, fun-loving energetic fella with lots of confidence. Sprinter is calmer and more self centered, but it`s rare to see him without a smile on his face.

- Venus is very sarcastic and can come of as a jerk to people if you dont know her. She cares a lot for her family deep down, but she doesn`t like to show it. She`s 5 years older than the twins, and will therefore not hesitate to scold them if they`re being stupid, even tho they are 10 times her size. Long distance scout is her job, but she also serves as Sprinters adviser. Because Afilia is new in the gang, and a very nervous little girl, Venus is much nicer and milder towards her than she normally is towards others. Venus has kinda grown rather protective of Afilia since she was rescued, but she doesn`t quite know how to help the child out yet. She is also VERY protective of Tufo

More references of her --->  




-Tufo is a very happy lad, and he LOVES to tell stories! Mostly stories he makes up as he goes along. He is still a child, only 8 years old, and he JUST learned how to fly so he`s not very good at it yet. Tufo is also a very happy child at heart, and he`s often out exploring or getting himself and others into trouble. He loves to hang out with Shade, since their personalities mach rather well. He sees both Shade and Sprinter as his older brothers, and the feeling is mutual. Venus is also just like an older sister to him. He`s really excited about finally having a friend closer to his age, after Afilia was rescued, and the fact that she`s very shy and nervous doesn`t bother him at all. He simply loves her company when the others are busy He is also scared about turning out like Darius when he grows up, since they are the same species.

-Afilia is rather new in the gang, since she was recently rescued by them. She`s also still a child (11 years old), and has lived most of her life by herself. Therefore she`s very shy, scares easily and has trouble trusting others. However she has drawn a liking to Sprinter, and likes to hang out with him whenever he`s not to busy leading the clan. She speaks freely and feels safe with him. She trusts the others as well, and likes to hang out with Tufo now and then, but he is VERY energetic compared to her, so she can`t always keep up And she loves snow

-Darius is a HUGE creature who isn`t found of anything really. He keeps to himself at all costs, and tries to stay away from anything he might hurt. This is because he is possessed, and whenever he looses control of himself, he becomes very dangerous and unable to stop himself. He and Tufo are the same species, however Darius is corrupted and damaged, so Tufo wont look like him whatsoever when he grows up.

RULES AND COMMON QUESTIONS:
 
 - Can you draw more than one character? And will it effect your chance to win? The answer is YES, you may draw more than one character in the same illustration, and depending on how well they work off of each other in the drawing, it WILL increase the winning chance! However! You may not include more than 3 characters! This is to avoid to complex pieces, and to make it more fair for the people who aren`t as comfortable with drawing groups pics. If you REALLY want to include more that 3 characters in one drawing, send me a note about what your plan for the drawing is, and we can work it out

 - Can you cooperate with someone else while making the contest entry? The answer is YES, as long as you and your work-partner have sorted things out between you regarding the price. You may NOT commission someone else to draw an entry, and enter their work in the competition under your name. If somehow the person you`re commissioning is fine with this however, I won`t interfere, but make sure to credit the work to whomever made it. 

 - Does written pieces count as an entry? The answer is NO, unfortunately. This contest is looking for illustrations. However, every drawing-technique is allowed, as long as the end result is an illustration of some sort where the character(s) is recognizable. 

 - Is it allowed to make a comic page, or two/more separate pieces that belong together? The answer is YES, you may draw a comic page, OR two correlating pieces. You may NOT enter more than two entries to the contest, this to make it more fair for those who don`t have the time to draw two pieces. 

 - May you draw the characters as humans/anthropomorphic? The Answer is NO, I do not accept human-versions, however i MAY accept anthro-versions, but this is not guaranteed, so I would advice you to send me a note with the sketch before continuing on, so I can accept it before you put to much work into it.  

 - Can you draw the character(s) in gore/mature/sexual context? The answer is NO. I accept blood and/or scary/dramatic settings, but pure gore is to much. In addition I do not accept sexual content. If you`re uncertain of how much "gore" you can include, send me a note.  

 - May you animate one or more of the characters as an entry? The answer is YES, animation is of course allowed. Color will not be considered as much if you choose to animate. The main focus will then be appeal, anatomy and accuracy to the character(s). 

 - What will I consider the most when choosing the winner? When it comes to the illustration itself I will first and foremost consider the character(s). This means, I will consider anatomy, appeal, drawing style, accuracy to appearance, expressions, poses and emotions the absolute highest when choosing the winners If you choose to draw more than one character, it will help you out A LOT if the characters act according to their personalities, and the relationship between them I will also look at how accurate the size difference is (Size sheet is in my gallery). This means that I will put less consideration into stuff like background, VERY DEFINED details and how early your entry enters the competition. Therefore I would not advice you to draw a massive landscape with the character far away from the camera or very small in the frame. Uncolored pieces are of course welcome as well!

Hello Everyone!
The last time I uploaded a journal I had just turned 17 years old, which was over 4 years ago My DA-username was also blackSTLnightfury, my night fury OCs were still a thing, and I still lived with my parents! 
None of that is true anymore, god damn how time flies

Since then, a lot has happened regarding my art and creative universe First of all, both Black the night fury and her father Azular has been scrapped. Tiger the night fury has been completely re-booted. His name is now Tufo, he no longer has a sister, and he`s not a night fury anymore ether So basically, nothing is left of the HTTYD days

To say it simple: Like most of the other "night fury"-artist here in DA, I`ve grown out of it and started making my own stuff It was a rather rough and a bumpy ride at the start, still kinda is, but I`m very happy that I did this none the less  

My universe and the story I`ve got planned for it goes under the name of "Humanity After", and my dream is to make it into an animated series someday Hopefully with a little luck, and help from great friends I can make it happen someday! But first I gotta finish my 3-year major in biology at the university, which is what I`m currently doing "Humanity After" takes place in Europe about 100 years after every human being on the planet has mysteriously died/vanished, and most of it`s scenery is heavily inspired by Chernobyl
The new band of main characters I will focus on are as followed:  

They are all present in "Humanity After" and the same universe


Luckily I`ve managed to hold on to my dearest friends in here throughout the change of focus regarding my art, and I`m very thankful for that
You know who you are And I`m so friggin happy we`re still in touch!



Lastly, I want to say that I am aware that most of my old "audience" was here because of my HTTYD-related art. It`s very obvious when looking at the views I get now, compared to what I used to get when I drew night furies HOWEVER! I am much happier drawing what I want and for myself, rather than drawing what pleases others And I hope that despite it not being HTTYD-related, that I can still bring out some smiles and pleassure from my watchers with my new art
